After (vegan) ice cream and cupcakes, writing is my third favorite obsession.
Dog are pretty cool, too.
I’ve been writing all my life (and professionally for the past 20 years), and I’m still madly in love with it.
Back in the day, I wrote weepy stories for my teachers and sappy poetry to my boyfriends. I guess they liked it all, ‘cause I got good grades in English (algebra’s another story…ugh!), and lots of movie dates.
Later on, I became a professional marketing/promotion writer (or copywriter, as they say in the biz), spending much of my career in the magazine-publishing industry. Over the years, I’ve written for publications like Vogue, People, Life, The New York Times, Real Simple, Vanity Fair, GQ, In Style, House & Garden, Brides, Modern Bride, Every Day With Rachael Ray, and Redbook, as well as cosmetic companies, ad agencies, and non-profit organizations.
From 2002 to 2009, I co-owned a marketing firm called Flying Turtle Marketing, where I managed the firm's writing, editing, and research divisions (oh, yes, I’m passionate about marketing, too). We specialized in small businesses, so I got to work with tons of cool entrepreneurs.
I’m a small-business owner, so I have a special place in my heart for other entrepreneurs. We’re short on time and long on responsibility, which is why I’ve become a fan of delegating—hence my bookkeeper, Web designer, graphic artist, virtual assistant, and personal chef (yeah, I wish!). And what about you? Do you need to delegate your writing tasks?
If you want to know more about my life, like where I went to college, why I moved to Costa Rica and Mexico for a few years, and how many marathons I’ve run, check out my resume.
Meanwhile, if you could use someone like me in your life—someone who could take a few unsavory marketing or writing chores off your plate—give me call at 848.333.6100, or click here to shoot me a message.
